   Postmodern literature- certain characteristics of post World War II literature. As a whole, postmodernism is hard to define. There is also little agreement on the characteristics and importance of postmoder literature. However, some of the techniques that are used in these types of stories include: irony, black humor, metafiction, fabulation temporal distortion, magic realism, and many more. The term Postmodern literature is used to describe certain characteristics of post-World War II literature. It is both a continuation of the experimentation championed by writers of the modernist period (relying heavily, for example, on fragmentation, paradox, questionable narrators, etc. Postmodernism can also be described as a set of critical, strategic, and rhetorical practices.
